Give your home a Sydney summer makeover
With international borders opening and the threat of lockdowns lifted for the time being, now is a great time to have friends over and celebrate the season with a mini-makeover for your home. The warmer months are the perfect time for a refresh, and you might find a few gift ideas too.
We’ve gathered up some summer interior trends. There are so many fantastic boutiques and providers here in Sydney, so you can shop close to home.
Summer interior trends
This summer is all about shades of nature and bold prints. Refreshing earthy tones are in vogue, as are neutral, natural-looking colours. White, chamomile, cream and the colours of an Australian desert all look great against bold green plants, which you can bring indoors to give your home a tropical vibe.
Choose natural fibres like rattan and incorporate texture where you can. Textured cushions and vases make for simple updates or you can choose an amazing textured wallpaper to bring the wow factor. Continue the nature-inspired trend with timber highlights and beautiful stone pieces around your home.
Shapes have changed as well as tones. If you dare, look for curves and flow instead of straight lines. Rounded benches, circle-inspired furniture and archways are all on trend for the summer of 2021/2022. You can also ‘get curvy’ with light pendants, mirrors and rounded tapware.
Note that if you do love straight lines, go skinny. So-called ‘kit kat tiles’ are having a moment right now and look great in bathrooms and kitchens. And if you’re not on board with the natural trend, bold, Seventies prints always look beautiful in the summer months.
The next interior trend that’s hot right now is to introduce handmade items that look anything but mass produced. Dig out family heirlooms, shop vintage or seek out hand-me-downs that make your home unique. Quilts, rugs and furniture are great places to start for your summer makeover.
