Best spots for a Neutral Bay spring evening
Neutral Bay is one of the best suburbs in Sydney, and now that it’s officially spring, the time is right to start making the most of the milder weather.
With that in mind, we have rounded up some of the best places to enjoy a spring evening in Neutral Bay. No doubt we will see you out and about between now and Christmas!
Restaurants and cafes in Neutral Bay
Neutral Bay has so many options for dining out. Here is a selection of restaurants and cafes that are perfect for a spring day or evening.
Just off bustling Military Road, At Neutral provides tasty standards with the occasional twist like Za’atar roasted eggplant with sunflower seed cream, roasted cherry tomatoes, crispy curry leaves and dukkah on toasted sourdough. Their coffee is sourced from local Calibrate Coffee, and there are plenty of pastries and sweets for sugar lovers.
Make the most of the spring weather by visiting Alala’s, the newest bar at the Oaks. Book a table and enjoy a selection from the bar and grill out surrounding the Oak Tree while lit up.
K-Town Korean BBQ House is a relative newcomer to the area, being established in 2020. The aim of the owners was to bring authentic Korean food with a contemporary twist to the Lower North Shore, and they have delivered in spades. Book online for the Young Street restaurant and enjoy its unique style.
5Loaves 2Fish (or 5L2F) is a friendly cafe specialising in artisanal food and specialty coffee. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner on a spring day. 5L2F can also do catering if you are hosting an event to celebrate spring at your place.
Get outdoors in Neutral Bay
With stunning parks and blue waters on all sides, there are so many beautiful spots in Neutral Bay to choose from, but we’ve narrowed it down to just a few:
Cremorne Reserve on Cremorne Point is a favourite place for locals to enjoy Harbour views on expansive green lawns. Bring the dog on a leash to walk the winding paths and see the lighthouse, or set up early and enjoy a spring picnic with water views.
Slightly out of area, tucked along the Lane Cove river, you could easily be forgiven for forgetting how close you are to the city in Lane Cove National Park. With its mangroves, wildflowers, and plentiful bird species, Lane Cove National Park is a must-visit for nature lovers. There are also lots of different areas to set up a picnic and while away a balmy spring evening.
Head to the southern tip of McMahons Point for enviable views of the iconic Sydney Harbour and lots of grassy space to enjoy a picnic and a quiet bevy. Blues Point Reserve is a popular spot with locals for good reason. Blues Point Reserve is prime Sydney real estate; the views are exceptional, with a clear line of sight to the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, and it’s only a short walk from North Sydney Train Station.
Spring is an obvious time to head to the nearby Taronga Zoo. Animals will often start to appear again after the colder month, and there’s a higher chance of babies among the zoo’s furry inhabitants. If you haven’t been to Taronga in a while, maybe this spring is time to visit once again?
