A question we sometimes get asked by homeowners is if they can sell their property with a tenant in place. The short answer is yes, you can.
We will sometimes recommend taking over the management until the property is sold, to make the process as smooth as possible, and to ensure that the tenant is kept in the loop about inspections and any pre-sale maintenance and repairs. Our goal is always to work with all parties to ensure a smooth transition to a new owner.
There may also be an opportunity to sell the property with the tenant in place, as we generally have investors on our books who are looking for new properties. This can be a great outcome for everyone involved – as a seller, you get a fast and easy sale, the buyer has a tenant already living there and can continue collecting rent, and the tenant doesn’t have to leave their home.
If you are thinking of selling your investment property, contact our team to discuss selling it whilst tenanted, and we will be happy to help.
