Celebrate Christmas at these Neutral Bay locals
Are your days feeling merry and bright? The weather has warmed up, the sun is setting later and the Christmas season is ready to get into full swing.
One of the best things about Neutral Bay is you can keep it local when you catch up with your nearest and dearest. We have put together a list of our favourite venues for the 2023 Christmas season.
Neutral Bay Club: A long-standing favourite with locals, the Neutral Bay Club is always a fun venue, with tennis, bowls and regular trivia nights. They also host functions and boast a bistro full of delicious meals. You may still be able to book a Christmas function, so head to the website or Facebook page to check availability.
The Oaks: It wouldn’t be a list of things to do in Neutral Bay without a mention of The Oaks. The venerable local bar, with its famous 80-year-old oak tree, is always a source of good times and possibly a reason why Neutral Bay is so desirable on the Sydney real estate market. The Oaks have recently introduced a new bar, Alala’s at the Oaks, so if you haven’t been for a while it’s time to check out this new facility and sample one of its fabulous cocktails.
SoCal: Established after Neutral Bay locals Ben and Hamish ate and drank their way around Southern California, SoCal has established itself as a preferred spot amongst Neutral Bay residents. SoCal is also offering Christmas parties that include food, a two hour drinks pack and bonbons for just $110 per head.
The Orpheum: The Orpheum Cinema loves to celebrate the seasons and Christmas is no exception. If you’re a Love Actually fan, the British ‘classic’ is showing this Friday December 8th, while a new documentary about the infamous Star Wars Christmas Special, A Disturbance in the Force will screen on Saturday night for one show only. And on Sunday December 10th, there’s a marathon screening of The Lord of the Rings if you need a break from it all.
Hayes Street Christmas Show: Enjoy some local talent this Christmas as the musicians from the Hayes Street Studio put on their annual Christmas Show. Enjoy a host of festive music for ages 12 and up on Saturday December 16th.
Taronga Zoo: Right on Neutral Bay’s doorstep, the Taronga Zoo is also hosting its annual Christmas Concert on December 16th. Enjoy live music in the gorgeous surroundings of the historic zoo while enjoying a picnic meal or purchasing food from one of the many vendors. Rumour has it that a very special visitor will also be in attendance, all the way from the North Pole.
Balmoral Carols: For a traditional night of Aussie Carols by Candlelight, you can’t go past Balmoral Carols hosted by Mosman Village Church this Friday, December 8th, on Balmoral Beach. Bring a picnic blanket and your best singing voice for an evening of classic carols. There will also be lots of activities at this family-friendly event, including face painting, crafts and a treasure hunt.
