If you have a rental property that’s looking a little tired and dated and you’re wondering what to do with it, there are a few things you can consider to help it stand out.
This doesn’t have to mean spending a fortune, but keep in mind that any money you do spend will likely lead to increased rental income and better quality tenants, who are likely to stay longer.
So what do we advise property investors in this position? First of all, most tenants like updated kitchens and bathrooms. They don’t need to be brand new, but a new benchtop, cabinet doors, tiles or tapware can make a big difference.
Air conditioning, or even ceiling fans, are appealing. New flooring that is hard-wearing, won’t show every scuff and is pet-friendly, if you are open to pets, is also a good idea.
And for return on investment, a fresh coat of paint is always a good move.
