While spring is the traditional home-selling season in Sydney, it can also mean there are more houses on the market for buyers to choose from. Alternatively, selling your home in winter makes sense for properties with a lot of north-facing rooms, a cosy fireplace, or lots of autumn colour in the garden.

If you are thinking about selling your home in winter, now is the time to find out what cosmetic changes are worth making to boost your sale price. Try not to leave your preparations to the last minute, as this can lead to stress.

Call in your real estate agent early so they can look around and talk to you about what work needs to be done, from big structural jobs to pre-sale styling. Getting your to-do list together well in advance, in consultation with your agent, and then getting on with it will make your sale much less stressful and allow you to focus on decision making and your next move.
